How Twitter Made Me A Better IWMS Consultant

Twitter is one of the most inspiring social media technologies that have risen over the last five years. Like most of you, I jumped into a whole new world by joining Twitter. To me, Twitter provides both opportunity and distraction.

I simply love the idea of easily sharing 140-character messages with people all around the world. Because of the 140-character limit you have to actually think about what message you want to get across. (I’m not talking about the mundane rubbish tweets, but about true valuable messages). Twitter forces you  to be concise.

Being concise. This is quite intriguing. Over the last weekend I have been giving it a lot of thought. After two of glasses of Napa Valley Chardonnay, I realized that much of the work I have been doing lately as an IWMS-consultant was rather redundant instead of concise.

I evaluated my two last projects and immediately spotted something awkward in these projects. It turned out that wordy communication led to misinterpretation, frustration, and eventually project delays.

This was my Eureka moment!

After evaluating even more of my IWMS projects, I have come to the conclusion that being concise in your communication has a positive result on your IWMS project.

It made me a better IWMS consultant.
